NAFW DAY 5 - Style Icon - Lupita Nyong'o
The fifth challenge for NAFW2016 is to create a design inspired by your favorite fashion icon. I don't really have one, but I always love seeing Lupita Nyong'o's red carpet looks. She looks absolutely amazing every time. *tutorial included*
This design was inspired by a gorgeous Elie Saab dress that Lupita wore for the 2015 SAG Awards. She looks so lovely in it! I chose this dress because it's quite unusual, but at the same time breathtakingly beautiful.
The base is for this design two coats of "blanc" by Essie.
Here is a picture of what it looked like before I added the black stripes. I took pictures of this because I wasn't sure the final design with black would look great.
But man was I wrong! I absolutely adore the end result. The watercolor flowers alone look good, but the stripes take it to another level. They make the whole design come together.
The design is hand-painted with Jo Sonja's acrylic paint. To create the watercolor flowers I diluted the paint with water.
For the flowers I used the "Edinburgh Realism 3" brush and the lines are done with the "Edinburgh Realism 4" brush by Stylishnailartshop.
